'Twas a great night.
jimboc88 and I were there amongst others.
Lucie and Mum & Dad made it eventually (they missed the start)
Kylie Minogue was in the place so I hear, although I didn't see her but did witness the paparazzi waiting outside when I left. There's a job I wouldn't fancy.
I'll post a report later, with a pic if one is decent.

What a great audience Mia had then, including Kylie. I hope she liked Mia's performance. _________________

I assume Kylie was in another part of the club - as I didn't see her at all, so she may not have heard our dear Mia - her loss though as Mia was great! |

|
|
Herewith the gig review:
First up was a female duo Green Phoenix.
http://www.myspace.com/thisisgreenphoenix
Sisters Claire on vocals Angela on guitar & bvox
Not my cup of tea at all, I thought they were below average, almost learning how to sing and play guitar. The only highlight was the guitar player's harmonies which were sadly occasional. Their songs were very samey - not recommended.
Second up Simone Kaye
http://www.myspace.com/simonekaye
Much better stuff, a five piece on the night with Jessica on bvox and Nixon, Tom and Paul on the instruments. Good sounds, good rhythyms and definitely something worth listening to. Setlist was:
You'll ever know
Confessions
Slow Down
and a cover of Until you come back to me (Steve Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston and no doubt others did this)
Catch them if you can!
Third up our own Mia. Setlist on the night was
A Lot Like Me
More Fool Me (slower than normal as Mia and Ben were trying to drag the set out to fill out their allocated time and allow Mia's mum & dad to arrive!)
Turn Around
Flower Girl
Miss Communication
Easier Said Than Done (with an explanation in the intro that it was about sister Nikki)
Trouble All the Way (dedicated to Alex in the audience who she has known since he was a little baby - how embarrassing!)
Photos (don't ask me why Mia has alien eyes in the second one)
Last but not least a wonderful photo of Mia thank to cameraman Ben Mark (Mia & I won't admit it took him three goes, and I won't admit I've cropped myself off the side because I have my eyes shut!)
Rumour has it that both Kylie and Danni made an appearance in the bar after I left (was it me?) but tbh Mia and Lucie are way better so I don't feel I missed anything.
Regards and see some of you at the Regal Rooms on the 6th June

How low key that performance was. Just a monitor, a mic and a guitar. I love such performances.
I totally agree on the fact that the Silvas Sisters are better than the Minogue Sisters. _________________

Simone Kaye dropped me a nice note - I had sent her a link to the review in the forum. She said something about she was glad I liked her - a reference to the less than favourable review on Green Phoenix I think
Anyway she sounds in mail as lovely as she sings so if you get the chance, catch her next gig.
