Transformers was an animated television show from what the 80's originally I think. It was about a war between giant robots that could like transform into cars, animals etc etc. There was a Transformers film in the middle of the 80's and the one recently being discussed is a more modern remake really - although the storyline as I remember is a little different. Maybe that makes things a little clearer for you.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE This movie, I have seen it three times and do not get tired of it, i think it has so much humour, fun and also a serious side to it and i just love watching all the transformers, would love to own a bumblebee and an octumus prime 
I am looking forward to this coming out on dvd
